I BUILD. I SEE. I WRITE. I ASK UNTIL SOMETHING TRUE SHOWS UP.
Cathy R. Foreman is a people-focused strategist, author, photographer, and speaker whose work spans employee experience, community-building, storytelling, and creative expression.
I build systems. I tell stories. I follow questions wherever they lead.
For more than twenty years, I've helped people and organizations navigate change, strengthen programs, improve employee experiences, build community, and uncover opportunities for growth. Along the way, I've created art, written books, and explored the stories that shape our identities, our communities, and how we see ourselves and each other.
Whether through strategy, photography, speaking, or storytelling, I'm interested in one thing:
Understanding what matters... and helping others see it too.

The Builder.
I don’t just manage - I build. For more than 15 years, I’ve designed processes that work, coached people to succeed, and improved every system I touch. I seek out friction, inefficiency, and blind spots - and turn them into opportunity. Every process I touch becomes stronger, smarter, and more human. Good enough isn’t my style; better is always possible.
That work has included building ERGs from the ground up, creating HBCU engagement programs, improving contingent workforce systems, and designing employee experiences that fostered connection, strengthened communities, and created opportunities for others to succeed.

The Creative.
Through my lens, I’ve captured more than images - I captured moments that make you stop, feel, and remember. Each photo tells a story worth pausing over. From black-and-white portraits to my artwork, photography is my way of translating the world’s energy, rhythm, and stories into something you can hold. Every frame has intention; every shadow, a story waiting to be discovered.
Much of my work centers on live music and culture, with images created at concerts and festivals and exhibited in galleries and shows across the United States, Milan, and Oxford. My photography is centered on jazz, soul, R&B, and funk artists.

Where Stories Unfold.
Words matter. Stories endure. My books and essays reflect curiosity, resilience, and the audacity to see the world differently. From journeys through history and culture to reflections on rebellion, risk, and resilience, I write to explore what it means to take chances, ask questions, and leave a mark. The words are mine - but the impact is yours to feel.
My published works include What We Found Along the Way (Black travel memoir), RebelSoul (jazz, soul, R&B, and funk concert photography collection), and Marked by History (race and medicine). Each takes a different path, but all are rooted in curiosity, connection, and a desire to better understand the people, stories, and experiences that shape us.
